The story behind this image

It was only 5.45am but the sun had already been up for an hour at Penmon Point on midsummer's day morning 2007 on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey, just off the North Wales coast.

As the sunlight pierced the broken cloud, sending beams of clear light across the shoreline, I was on hand camera and tripod at the ready to catch the fleeting glow on the famous Penmon Point lighthouse, just offshore, and the seaweed encrusted rocks in the foreground.

With waves breaking over the foreshore, I set my camera on a slow shutter speed to allow the water movement to blur, enhancing the play of light over the rocks at my feet.

The sunlit spectacle only lasted a few minutes before the clouds closed up, but that was long enough for me to capture a few different compositions of this wonderful moment in such a special location.

And then it was a rather fast drive back along the coast to get me to work on time for my 8am clock in at the factory.

But what a way to start the day!
