A lovely summer's day on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey just off the North Wales coast, and my wife Liz and I are out and about enjoying the great weather at one of our favourite spots, Moelfre on the east coast of the island.
Moelfre is a charming little seaside village, with a great cliff walk round to the popular beach at Lligwy, but before you get that far you walk past the lifeboat station with two impressive bronze scultures overlooking the coast.
One depicts the tragic wreck of the Royal Charter off this coast, with the loss of around 450 lives, but my favourite is the much more uplifting statue of lifeboatman Dic Evans, a local hero who was involved in 179 lifeboat launches and helped save 281 lives, bieing awarded the British Empire Medal and the RNLI gold medal twice for acts of bravery at sea.
Which is why I chose Dic Evans' statue to feature in this short time lapse video, showing the sea and coast at its most benign with light summer cumulus clouds drifting by overhead.
Just a brief tribute to a great hero.
