Time lapse video of Barcelona port, Spain #1

The story behind this video

The start of a fresh adventure for my wife Liz and myself, as we sailed away from the port of Barcelona on the southern coast of Spain at the beginning of a two week cruise around the western Mediterranean sea.

Wanting to film us sailing out of the port, we headed aft to the highest point on the ship we could find where I set up my camera on my newly acquired Gorrilapod tripod, firmly wrapped around the ship's rail.

On this trip I decided to try a new filming technique, shooting real time video and then speeding it up in Adobe Premiere to give the effect of a time lapse, rather than shoot individual still frames which are then blended together in post processing.

And my little Canon EOS 250D, fitted with a pancake 24mm prime lens, proved ideal for the job, being both light, compact, and able to shoot 4K video to boot.

So Liz and I stood leaning against the ship's railing while my camera whirred away, watching as Barcelona slowly disappeared over the horizon.

Not a bad away to start a holiday, and the real time video I shot processed very nicely into this time lapse sequence, speeded up aproximately twenty times.
