Before spending time here, I wouldn't have thought that the atlantic coast of northwest Scotland had any sandy beaches as such.
But a two week stay at Gairloch proved me wrong, with some really lovely and unspoilt beaches dotted along the rugged coastline to discover.
And one of the nicest was just a short drive away from our AirBnB.
Featured in this video, this is the aptly named Big Sand Beach, a gorgeous stretch of coast with acres of sand and interesting rocky outcrops to enjoy.
However, it being October when we were here, we didn't do any sunbathing!
