This is the third of a series of five time lapse videos, filmed around Carlingford Lough, which forms part of the border between Northern Ireland and the Republic, during August 2023.
The location for this view was in the hills near the village Tulla, County Lough, in the Republic of Ireland, overlooking Carlingford Lough and the Mountains of Mourne in Northern Ireland.
As a principle, when exploring a region new to us, my wife Liz and I take time to drive along the smaller roads marked on our maps, especially if they hug the coast or meander through mountainous landscape.
Which is why we found ourselves high in the hills surrounding Carlingford Lough, taking the scenic route from the town of Newry at the head of the lough, down to Carlingford on the shores of the lough on the Republic side of the border.
By and large, the views along our chosen route weren't that spectacular, except for this one spot near the village of Tulla, which gave this beautiful overlook, taking in the hills and mountains surrounding the lough.
And with light cumulus clouds casting moving patches of sunlight and shadow over the rolling landscape who could blame me for taking twenty minutes out of our journey to capture the scene in this time lapse video?
