Not only is North Wales blessed with outstanding scenery, we also have some great old castles from the 13th century to admire as well, and one of the best is at Conway on the banks of the tidal estuary of the river Conwy.
Having spent the afternoon and early evening strolling down various promenades along the North Wales coast, my wife Liz and I made one last stop at Deganwy, on the far side of the river from the famous castle and town.
The summer sun had just set and daylight was slowly draining from the sky as I set up my camera to record one last time lapse video from our day's excursions.
It was that time of the evening when the blue tones of twilight contrast beautifully with the warmth of artificial illumination, as the spotlights shining on the castle walls and turrets lit up the ancient stonework.
I kept on shooting the hundreds of still images needed to create this time lapse for forty minutes or so, until the natural light of day had completely faded from the scene and I was left with the glowing golden castle, reflecting in the still waters of the estuary on an ebbing tide below my vantage point.
It was a very relaxed drive home after that!
