A week long break in April 2023 found my wife Liz and I exploring the beauties of the Lake District in the north of England.
We'd had a few holidays here in the past, but usually in the autumn, so a trip in spring was something new for us, even though we re-visited a lot of our known viewpoints and beauty spots.
And one such viewpoint, which we'd discovered a few years ago now but keep coming back to, is the aptly named 'Surprise View', on a tiny little road high in the hills above Derwentwater.
This stunning view of the lake, surrounding mountains and forest, is a photographer's dream, so it's no surpise that we spent a good half hour up here, shooting this time lapse video and a host of still images and panoramas to boot.
And an added bonus was the arrival of the Derwentwater ferry at the end of the shoot, making an interesting pattern on the shining surface of the lake.
No doubt we'll be back again at some point not too far into the future.
