The west coast of Ireland, known as the 'Wild Atlantic Way', has long been a favourite destination for my wife Liz and I, and we are determined to travel and explore it's entire 1,600 mile length.
And we're not doing too badly, as the spring of 2022 found us in County Galway, dropping in on deserted beaches and rugged coastlines.
One of the main attactions of this part of the world for me as an outdoor photographer is the weather.
Coming straight off 3,000 miles of ocean, the weather on the west coast of Ireland can change dramatically every few minutes, with hot sun followed by rain, wind, hail and even snow.
Not great if you're hoping to lie on a beach and get a tan, but wonderful if, like me, you're looking for dazzling lighting and majestic clouds over a stunning land and seascape.
Obviously, being on the west coast, the time to be out and about is the hour either side of sunset, so Liz and I made several evening trips to photograph the coastal scenery.
One such was to the wild and deserted beach at Glassillaun, where I captured the hundreds of still images needed to create this timelapse video of clouds roiling over the rocky shoreline at sunset.
What an amazing part of the world, and one to which we intend to return many times yet.
