At a latitude of 53°N, the North Wales coast enjoys a variation in the position of sunset and surise of over 80° ove the course of a year.
That's great for us outdoor photographers who enjoy catching the start and end of the day, as we get a variety of angles and compositions as the seasons roll by.
One of the few spots on the North Wales coast that you can actually see the sunset from all year round is the West Shore beach at Llandudno, which is where my wife Liz and I ended up at the close of a lovely day in late January spent exploring the beauties of the Snowdonia National Park.
With the sun setting to the southwest, this gave me a great opportunity to shoot this time lapse sequence of the sun sliding down the dramatic headland at Penmaenmawr, before finally disappearing over the horizon on the low lying Isle of Anglesey in the far distance.
Just a wonderful end to a fantastic day here in beautiful North Wales.
