The story behind this video

Following an early spring snowstorm in 2023, the morning of Tuesday 7th March dawned bright and clear, with the prospect of a glorious day to come.

So no further incentive was required for my wife Liz and I to bustle through our morning chores and then head out for a drive around the mountains of the Snowdonia National Park.

We headed out over the Sportsman's Pass between Denbigh and Pentrefoelas, taking in the marvellous views of the snow covered Snowdonia mountains, before dropping down through Betws-y-Coed and onto Capel Curig.

Stopping at the ever popular Moel Siabod Café for some homemade soup, we were just a stone's throw away from this view out over Llyn Mymbyr towards the peaks of the Snowdon Horseshoe to the west.

This must be one of the most photographed views in Snowdonia, and I myself have shot numerous still images and time lapse videos here over the years, in all types of weather and light conditions.

But even I was taken aback by the sheer drama and beauty of the scene before me, with bright sunlight and light cumulus clouds playing over the snow encrusted mountains and lake.

So it was down to the foreshore for me, complete with all the gear needed to shoot the hundereds of still images needed to create just these few seconds of time lapse video.

So as my camera did its thing for half an hour or so I just sat an a rock at the water's edge, contemplating the beauty of God's creation, laid out before me in all its splendour.

What a place North Wales is! Where else would anyone want to be!
