A bracing winter's drive through the snow dusted mountains of Snowdonia in North Wales culminated for my wife Liz and myself at the famous coastal town of Caernarfon, just a few minutes before sunset.
With some breaks in the clouds allowing beams of golden sunlight to sweep across the sky, I was in somewhat of a hurry to get to a location with a southwesterly view so I could capture this time lapse video of that lovely sunset.
So we kept on driving along the coast road that runs westerly along the southern shore of the Menai Straits until we came upon this viewpoint.
What a magnificent location, with views out over the Irish Sea to the pointy mountains of the Llyn Peninsula, and taking in that rapidly developing sunset as well.
So I wasted no time in setting up my camera and tripod to record the hundreds of still frames needed to create this time lapse vieeo, but with a howling gale battering me and my camera it was something of a challenge to find a relatively sheltered spot to shoot from.
But thanks to a sea wall and some Armco barriers I was up and shooting just in time to catch the best of the colours as the sun sank slowly down past the far horizon.
The lightshow only lasted twenty minutes or so before it was time to pack everything away and defrost myself with a cup of hot coffee before the drive home.
What a great way to end a fantastic day out in North Wales!
