Mean, moody and magnificent doesn't even begin to describe the landscapes of northwest Scotland, as my wife Liz and I found out during our two week holiday here in October 2022.
Based in an AirBnB near Gairloch on the atlantic coast, we spent our time driving and walking (weather permitting!) around the mountains, lochs, coast and forests of this wild and untamed land.
Driving along the A82 near to the famous Rannoch Moor we came across this spectacular view out over Loch Tulla to the mountains beyond.
And with storm clouds streaming in our direction it was a no-brainer to set my camera up in the lee of our car, to stop it blowing over, and to shoot a few hundred still images to create this time lapse video of the amazing weather over the loch.
Mind you, it was downright chilly standing in that wind, and I was glad to get back in the car after twenty minutes or so for a hot cup of coffee before setting off to find the next stunning view to admire and photograph.
What a country!
