The port of Marseille, on the south coast of France, proved to be a fascinating stop on the cruise around the western Mediterranaean sea that my wife Liz and I enjoyed during October 2023.
Of all the places we visited, I think Marseille had the most character, especially the old town which we we able to walk to from the quayside.
And when it was time to sail away the views out over the town and the mountains in the background were equally enjoyable.
So with my camera locked onto my new Gorillapod tripod, which itself was firmly attached to to railing of our balcony, thirteen decks above the sea, I filmed our departure, looking back at the extensive commercial docks.
In total I filmed for fifteen minutes as the land slipped away, but fifteen minutes of slow moving video is pretty boring, so I speeded it up 30x in Adobe Premiere Pro to create this time lapse effect sequence.
Much more engaging!
