The border region of northeast Wales, where I live, is steeped in a history of violent clashes between warring princes, which have left their mark on the landscape over the centuries.
And one of the most spectacular and impressive defensive works is the 177 mile long Offa's Dyke, built in the 8th century by King Offa, of what was then the kingdom of Mercia.
Stretching from Chepstow in the south to Prestatyn on the North Wales coast, Offa's Dkye traverses some magnificent landscapes.
And none more so than the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), including Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range, crowned with the remains of the distintive Jubilee Tower.
The route up to the summit of Moel Famau is part of Offa's Dyke, and is hugely popular with walkers from all over the UK, as can be seen in this short time lapse video, capturing the action on a lovely day in May 2023, with broken clouds casting moving patches of sunlight and shadow over the landscape as hikers climb up to the Jubilee Tower and back down again in a steady stream.
And, when I'd finished shooting the hundreds of still images needed to create this time lapse video, I joined them.
