I've lost count of how many times I've wound my way up from the Pen Barras car park, along the Offa's Dyke path to the Jubilee Tower on the summit of Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
After all, it's only a fifteen minute drive from my home, and climbing Moel Famau regularly is a great way to keep fit.
The views (and smells) certainly beat the inside of a gym, but keeping fit is not my main motivation for these regular visits.
No, I'm more interested in exercising my photographic creativity, and the scenery in this AONB gives me plenty of scope for just that.
But, you might say, surely the same view gets a bit monotonous after you've photographed it a few dozen times.
Not so, as every time I've climbed Moel Famau, at night, dawn, dusk, daytime etc. the weather, light, seasonal colours and so forth have all been different.
Such as on this lovely day in May 2023, as light cumulus clouds drifted by overhead, casting a moving patchwork of sunlight and shadow over the undulating landscape on the flanks of Moel Famau and the Vale of Clwyd beyond.
So, of course, I had to stop for twenty minutes or so to capture the hundreds of still images needed to create just these few seconds of time lapse video as a reminder of the sheer beauty of this part of God's creation.
