During our cruise around the western Mediterranean sea during October 2023, Naples, on the west coast of Italy, was the furthest south my wife Liz and I managed to get.
Once ashore we headed into town, determined to find a genuine Neapolitan pizza, an endeacvour in which we suceeded admirably thanks to a bustling little backstreet restaurant.
But of course, this time lapse video has nothing to do with pizza, I was just bringing back a happy memory!
Filmed from the balcony rail of our cabin, thirteen decks above the sea, this video gives a unique perspective on the coastline, architecture and general busyness of the town and port of Naples set against the mountainous backdrop of the various 'Parco Regionale', including the famous Mount Vesuvius volcano.
I think of all the coastal towns we visited on our cruise, Naples was the most visually (and taste-wise) spectacular.
