Some of the best conditions for outdoor photography occur at times of transition.
Sunrise, sunset, a change of tide, a new season, even a change in the weather can provide some dramatic conditions that beg to be captured on camera.
Which is just what proved to be the case on this particular evening on the north Wales coast.
A storm had just blown through, leaving ragged shards of cloud in its wake through which the setting sun was sending searing beams of glowing golden light.
And I was perfectly placed, on the summit of the Great Orme at Llandudno, looking west over the Menai Straits and the Isle of Anglesey, to catch the action in the skies above.
Mind you, that storm that had just moved over my location had left me a bit windswept and chilly, but there was no way I was going to miss the ensueing beauty as the sun set at the end of yet another day in this amazing part of the world.
