This short time lapse video was filmed from a layby on the A4086 road, running through the Snowdonia National Park (now called Eryri) in North Wales, and giving this amazing view of Snowdon (now called Yr Wyddfa) and the surrounding peaks.
As usual, the mountainous landscape was causing clouds to continuously form and decay, as the warm, moist air coming in off the Irish sea was forced to rise, cool and condense.
But I'm all for dramatic weather, especially over such majestic scenery and even more especially around sunset and sunrise, when you can see some startling lighting effects.
On this particular late afternoon in early October 2023 the sun was lowering over the mountains, sending beams of piercing light through gaps in the ever changing cloudscape.
So it was out with the camera and tripod as we parked up in my favourite layby, to record the few hundred still frames need to create these few seconds of time lapse video.
But we didn't stay long, as soon after I'd started shooting a heavier layer of cloud arrived and completely blanketed the scene.
Still, even more reason to come back and try again!
