Snowdon Timelapse #15

The story behind this video

One of the most iconic, and most photographed, views in the wonderful Snowdonia National Park in North Wales.

This is the scene from the side of the A4086 at Capel Curig, overlooking the waters of Llyn Mymbyr to the magnificent peaks of Snowdon and the surrounding ridges of the Snowdon Horseshoe.

The time is mid-March 2022, and winter has just had its final fling over North wales, dropping a dusting of snow over the high ground, and with a clearing weather front giving a sky full of dramatic broken cloud it was the ideal opportunity for my wife Liz and I to pay a visit to witness this magificent view.

And of course, with light this good there's no way I'm not getting my camera and tripod out to record close to a thousand still images of those boiling clouds casting patches of light and shadow over the snow whitened flanks of the mountains.

After all, you don't get such an amazing combination of landscape and lighting every day, so make the most of it I say!
