The story behind this video

With a couple of days break at Dinas Dinlle on the North Wales coast lined up for my wife Liz and I, we made the choice to take the scenic route from our home in northeast Wales.

For us, the scenic route involves driving through the beautiful Snowdonia National Park, with mountains, forests and lakes to enjoy along the way.

The weather for our drive was just perfect, with blue skies punctuated by active cumulus clouds forming and re-forming over the mountains.

This particular route was one we'd only taken once before, along the B4418 from Beddgelert to Penygroes, passing through the village of Nantlle.

And it was on this road, opposite the small lake Llyn Nantlle Uchaf, that we first saw this amazing view of the mountains that form the Nantlle Ridge.

So, of course, we had to stop for a slice of pizza and to enjoy the amazing view.

And naturally, my camera and tripod were put to immediate use recording the hundreds of still images needed to create this short time lapse video, featuring those dramatic clouds as they passed over the mountains, casting moving patches of sunlight and shadow on the landscape below.

We are so blessed to live in such a beautiful region, showcasing God's creation in all its splendour.
