Surely one of the most dramatically situated lighthouses anywhere in the world.
This is the wonderful South Stack lighthouse on the northwest tip of the Isle of Anglesey, just off the North Wales coast looking out over the Irish Sea.
I've photographed here countless times over the years, with my default working practise being to shoot hundreds of still images around sunset, in order to create a time lapse video in which everything is speeded up to around 60x normal time.
But on this occasion I decided to adopt a different approach, and shoot some real time video of the scene, featuring the intermittent pulses of the rotating light at dusk, set against the restless surface of the sea far below me.
I found watching the rotation of the light against the waves quite mesmerising, which is something you miss in a time lapse video, so I'm glad I decided to try a alternative maethod on this occasion.
