Sometimes a time lapse video shoot takes hours of planning and miles of travel to achieve the desired result.
And sometimes you just poke your head out of your back door et voila, a dramatic weather event is taking place right over your house!
Such was the case on 4th August 2023, as one frontal system after another streamed over north Wales, bringing ominous clouds and rain, interspered with bright sunshine.
I was working at home that day, so instead of getting in the car and driving to one of our local beauty spots to film the weather, I simply set my camera up in the back yard, pointing upwards at the sky and making sure to avoid getting the clothes line in my composition!
To add a bit more interest to the video I decided to shoot at the smallest aperture available on my lens of choice, f/22 in this case, which resulted in a nicely defined starburst pattern around the sun. (When the sun was visible that is.)
Well the weather action just kept on coming, so I left my camera clicking away for much longer than usual, eventually capturing over 2,000 individual images before the sun finally tracked out of my viewfinder.
Photography shouldn't be this easy should it?
