Always a popular spot for photographers, this is the iconic but de-commissioned Point of Ayr lighthouse, improbably situated on the beach at Talacre on the North Wales coast.
Talacre is just a half hour's drive from my home, so whenever the tide, weather and lighting conditions are favourable I can choose to come here to catch the view.
Being north facing, the beach and lighthouse are ideally situated for either sunrise or sunset photoshoots during the summer months, as was the case for this time lapse video sequence, filmed in mid May 2023 during an extended period of unusually good weather.
A bit of careful positioning of camera and tripod had the path of the sunset passing just behind the lighthouse, and I decided on a change of viewpoint and zoom halfway through the shoot to emphasise the dramatic nature of the final minutes of the sunset through some low level clouds along the horizon.
And the nice thing is that I can come back again to the same spot and conditions will be completely different, offering yet another fresh view on a old favourite.
