A two week 'warm up' holiday to Tenerife in the Canary Islands for my wife Liz and myself in February 2022 just happened to coincide with the arrival of the 'Calima' weather system, blowing fine dust across the Atlantic ocean and filling the skies over the island with an atypical haze.
This resulted in some interesting sunrise and sunset effects, which I took advantage of during our stay to shoot some different time lapse videos looking out over the west coast.
Such as this one, capturing the sunset from the Roque de Jama viewpoint, overlooking the built up townships around the tourist resort of Los Christianos.
I kept on shooting the hundreds of still images needed to create this time lapse video long after the sun had actually set, capturing the change from day to night as the artificial lights on the plain below me slowly replaced the natural light of twilight until the sky was completely dark.
Quite a viewpoint!
