Dominating the skyline on the southern plains of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, 'El Roque de Jama' is an eye-catching plug of hard volcanic lava that is hard to miss.
Which is why sunset found my wife Liz and I perched on the Mirador de le Centinela viewpoint, near Valle San Lorenzo, looking north over the Roque de Jama as the landscape caught the last light from the setting sun, over on the western horizon.
Overhead clouds were streaming past as they formed over the volcanic peak of Mount Tiede in the centre of the island, which gave me the perfect opportunity to shoot the hundreds of still frames needed to create this time lapse video of this dramatic scene as daylight faded to dusk.
What amazing geology!
