A sun-kissed beach, swaying palm trees and calypso music playing gently in the background.
If that's your idea of a perfect holiday location then the Playa de la Arena on Tenerife in the Canary Islands is for you!
But for my wife Liz and I, lying on a beach all day would drive us to distraction.
We're much happier travelling around exploring the non-tourist places and hiking around mountains, which is how we'd spent the majority of this day during our two week winter break on the island.
But as we were heading back south from the Teno mountains to the north, taking the coast road along the western side of Tenerife, we happened to drive through Playa de la Arena just as the sun was starting to set.
So We took a break from driving for an hour or so and watched the sunset out over the Atlantic ocean, framed between two nicely shaped palm trees, as the beach below emptied of sun worshippers.
And, of course, I couldn't let the moment slip by without shooting a few hundred still images to create this time lapse video of such a lovely scene, rendered all the better by keeping the cluttered foreground in silhouette!
A great way to end a spectacular day out, off the beaten track.
