The story behind this video

A two week winter break on Tenerife in the Canary Islands was a much looked forward to treat for my wife Liz and I after the two years of Covid restrictions.

But lying on a beach is not for us, instead we drove all over the island exploring the beautiful and dramatic volcanic landscapes that form the geological basis of Tenerife and its neigbouring Canary Islands.

And there is no more a stark example of this landscape than the huge volcanic caldera that forms the Teide National Park, with the huge cone of the Mount Teide volcano at its centre.

But surrounding the cone, on the outer edges of the caldera are some fantastic rock formations such as this one named 'Roque de Grieta'.

Liz and I had stopped for a coffee and a trip to the toilet at the sole establishment within the caldera, the Parador de Canadas del Teide, and it was from the car park that I shot the hundreds of still images neded to create this time lapse video of clouds streaming over the snow dusted Roque de Grieta.

Just breathtaking scenery, espaecially at 2000+ metres above sea level!
