I'm so blessed to be living in beautiful North Wales, with so many wonderful locations within a short drive from my home.
One such is the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), which is where I found myself on a cold winter's morning in Janaury 2022, standing near the summit of Foel Fenlli looking out along the Clwydian Range to the north and the Vale of Clwyd to the west.
I hadn't arrived here by accident, but by choice, planning on capturing this time lapse video of the first full moon of the year, known as the 'Wolf Moon' as it set over the Vale of Clwyd as dawn approached from the east.
I started shooting before twilight, but with a light covering of altocumulus clouds drifting across the bright face of the full moon I had plenty of light to see by, and those drifting clouds made for a wonderful display in the skies above.
As the morning progressed towards dawn and the skies grew lighter the morning rush hour began, with the headlights of cars far below zooming across the Vale of Clwyd in a mad dance, speeded up dramatically by the time lapse.
And then the moon finally disappeared behind the thickening clouds over Snowdonia so I stopped filming over the Vale of Clwyd and turned my camera around to catch the glowing clouds to the east, catching the light of the rising sun.
But that's another time lapse story!
