A beautiful clear morning over the Vale of Clwyd in northeast Wales and I was up before the lark to catch the full moon drifting downwards through the lightening skies over the market town of Ruthin.
There was not a breath of wind as I made my way, in the dark, up the Offa's Dyke path on the flanks of Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), to my chosen viewpoint overlooking Ruthin's glowing streelights.
I started taking the 1,000+ of still images needed to create these few seconds of time lapse video just on the cusp of nautical twilight, with the sky above taking on those lovely cool blue tones which herald the approaching dawn.
In the end I sat, watched and filmed for an hour and a half as the warm light of day slowly replaced the cool blue of night, only calling it a day when the setting moon disappeared from sight into a bank of haze hovering over the mountains of Snowdonia, far to the west.
And then it was time for a relaxed climb back down Offa's Dyke to my waiting car and home for breakfast.
What a way to start the day!
