Vale of Clwyd Sunset Timelapse #11

The story behind this video

Standing muffled up to the eyeballs in the freezing cold of a December afternoon, watching as a dramatic and colourful sunset starts to unfold over the beautiful Vale of Clwyd, stretched out under me to the far hills of Snowdonia away to the west.

I'm only ten minutes' drive from my home in Northeast Wales, standing on the slopes of Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), camera firmly fixed to my tripod and shooting away, capturing the hundreds of still images needed to create this time lapse video.

Enjoying a sunset with a clear horizon is quite rare in this part of the world, with active weather meaning that the horizon is quite often blocked with cloud.

But on this evening there was just enough wispy cloud cover to provide some beautiful sunset colours, while not obscuring the actual disk of the sun itself as it sank behind the rolling hills of the vale of Clwyd.

What a treat to watch and film!
