Living on the edge of the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in North Wales means I can hop in my car and be in stunning scenery whenever the light starts to look interesting.
Which was the case on this particular afternoon in early March 2022.
One of the best views of a sunset sky that I know of is overlooking the wonderful Vale of Clwyd, from the elevated vantage point of Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range, giving views all the way to the mountains of Snowdonia to the far west.
A recent addition to the view is the onshore windfarm near Llyn Brenig, which some hate but I love, and I will include turbines in my photography every chance I get.
So with the sun setting through an amazing cloudscape near the horizon I framed up this composition to feature the turbines as I captured the hundreds of still images required for a time lapse video.
The sunset didn't disappoint, but once the sun had vanished below the horizon I quickly reconfigured my camera with a wide angled lens to catch the dying rays as they painted the underside of the clouds streaming by with shafts of golden light.
And finally the show was over and it was time to pack away for the short drive back home, already looking forward to the next stunning sunset in this beautiful part of God's creation.
