A mesmeric interplay of clouds, sun and sunbeams over the Vale of Clwyd in North Wales held me entranced for three quarters of and hour as I watched and filmed the sunset on a glorious evening in early June 2022.
At a latitude of 53°N we experience a great swing in sunset and sunrise times and angles over the course of a year, which means that I can visit the same beauty spots and never see the same view twice!
Add in the unpredicable nature of the weather here, where weather fronts regularly do battle in the upper atmosphere, and you've got a recipe for some excellent time lapse photography opportunities.
Which is why you'll quite often find my wife Liz and I parked up on the slopes of Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, looking out over the Vale of Clwyd, Liz doing some knitting and me hunched over my tripod making minute adjustments to shutter speeds and ISO levels as the light slowly fades from the sky.
Not a bad way to spend an hour or so after tea!
