The story behind this video

A gorgeous evening with clear blue skies found my wife Liz and I out and about enjoying the light and scenery near our home in northeast Wales.

Our travels took us along the tiny mountain road past Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and beyond to the market town of Ruthin.

On our way back up the steep and winding road between Ruthin and Mold, we noticed that the sun was setting in a most beguiling manner over the rolling hills of the Vale of Clwyd.

A convenient layby provided the perfect opportunity to stop and watch the spectacle.

But, of course, I couldn't let such a beautiful event go un-photographed, so while we sat and watched, my camera was busy clicking away recording the sun falling below the horizon as the evening progressed towards night.

What a wonderful way to bring the day to an end.
