During the early summer of 2023, the UK enjoyed a rare spell of good weather, underneath a stationary area of high pressure.
Which was great for those of us who enjoy a good sunset, with cloud free skies laden with moisture and dust particles which combined to give rich, golden colours as the sun's rays had most of the blue spectrum of light filtered out as sunset approached.
So naturally, my wife Liz and I were out most evenings, looking for good spots to enjoy the view from.
With it being near to the summer solstice, the sun was setting far to the northwest and our latitude of 53ÂșN, which had us driving around the roads near our home in northeast Wales, looking for a suitable vantage point.
Eventually, after trying the western slopes of Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) to no avail, we headed out towards the market town of Ruthin, nestled in the beautiful Vale of Clywd.
Driving down the winding road from the heights of the Clwydian Range, we came across this layby and farm gate, which gave this stunning view of the sunset out over the rolling landscape below us.
So it was quickly out with the camera and tripod to record the hundreds of still images needed to create just these few seconds of time lapse video.
And the sunset didn't disappoint, with clear skies down to the horizon and gorgeous golden light to enjoy.
