Time lapse video of sunset over wind turbines, North Wales #1

The story behind this video

The view over the North Wales coauntryside has been changing over the past few years, with the addition of a goodly number of onshore wind turbines scattered across the landscape.

Love 'em or hate 'em, they're here to stay, and as an outdoor photographer, I love 'em, and will take every opportunity to feature them in my photographs and videos!

Just such an opportunity arose while watching an autumnal sunset over the Vale of Clwyd in North Wales, as witnessed from one of my favourite viewpoints, the Pen Barras car park on the slopes of Moel Famau, the highest peak in the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The late afternoon clouds over to the west were colouring up beautifully, lit from behind by the light of the setting sun and throwing this group of wind turbines into dramatic silhouette.

So it was out with the camera and tripod to shoot just over five minutes of video, catching the hazy outline of the sun as it slowly sank below the horizon, perfectly positioned behind those turbines.

But five minutes of watching turbines spin around gets a bit tedious, so a speeding up of the video in post processing produced this much more engaging time lapse sequence.
