Back in 2007 the British public was invited to vote for thier favourite view.
And the winner was - Wastwater in the Lake District.
So it was with much anticipation that my wife Liz and I drove up to Wastwater in the spring of 2023, during a week long break spent exploring this wonderful part of the country.
Well we certainly weren't disappointed with the views on offer, looking up the length of the lake to the high peaks of Scafell Pike and the surrounding mountains as light summer cumulus clouds drifted by overhead.
Ideal conditions for a time lapse video then, and I was soon set up at the water's edge, camera clicking away every two seconds as I recorded the hundreds of still images needed for just a few seconds of time lapse footage.
Conditions were ideal, as the passing clouds painted the dramatic landscape below in a chiaroscuro dance of sunlight and shadow while our fellow sightseers enjoyed themselves paddling around the calm waters of Wastwater.
Needless to say we spent quite some time here, enjoying a picnic along with the stunning views.
