It's almost night as Liz and I complete our walk around the marine lake at West Kirby on the Wirral.
On the way we disturbed a couple of herons, but there was no chance of photographing them in the almost zero light.
What was visible, and photographically possible, was the view across the Dee estuary to Wales on the far side.
The coastal strip was alive with streetlights, but the most interesting feature was the BBC transmission tower at Moel y Parc, festooned with its aircraft anti-collision beacons and sticking out of the surrounding dark hills like a neon lit sore thumb.
I just couldn't resist one last photo before climbing into the car and heading home after a truly enchanting evening at the lake.
