It was a wild afternoon in early December 2019 on the South Stack cliffs facing out over the Irish Sea from the beautiful Isle of Anglesey on the North Wales coast.
My wife Liz and I had come here in the hope of shooting a time lapse sequence of the sun setting over the famous South Stack lighthouse but with almost complete cloud cover and a frisky gale blowing the attempt was quickly called off, with visions of tripods being blown over the edge into the sea a couple of hundred feet below!
However, all was not lost as I managed to brace myself upright long enough to capture this handheld image of sunlight glowing through a crack in the clouds and lighting up the wave tossed waters below.
Not exactly what I had envisioned for the afternoon's photography session, but very satisfying nevertheless.

Filters - 2 stop neutral density graduated filter used to reduce the brightness of the sky relative to the sea.
Location - South Stack, Anglesey, North Wales
Image enhancements - Adobe Lightroom
Comments - High ISO used to allow handheld exposure with image stabilisation.
