The story behind this image

This wintry night time view is from the limestone escarpment at Loggerheads Country Park, near Mold in North Wales.

Loggerheads is only ten minutes from where I live, so I can visit this spot whenever I choose. On this particular night I was keen to see and photograph the wide range of colour temperatures available on the snow covered landscape at dusk under a clear sky, and I wasn't disappointed.

The western horizon was glowing orange from the last light of the disappearing sun, while the shadowed snow was lit an intense blue from the heavens overhead.

However, the scene would have been colourful but uninteresting if it weren't for the 'We Three Loggerhead' pub, nestled in the valley at the foot of my lofty perch, glowing with a lovely warm welcoming light as a counterpoint to the cold, forbidding surroundings.

Tempting to go down for a hot coffee isn't it?
