A beautiful clear evening over the North Wales coast at the end of a cold November day, and my wife Liz and I are just finishing off our stroll around the walls and castle at Caernarfon, enjoying the sights and sounds of this most remarkable place.
Out over the Menai Straits to the southwest the sky has taken on the twilight colours of orange and indigo which are reflecting on the still waters of the ebbing tide below.
Silhouetted against the glowing skies, a solitary seagull is perched atop the old stone jetty marker post, maintaining a lonely vigil as day fades into night.
An evocative scene, and well worth stopping our perambulations to capture as an image.
Just a minute or so later the seagull vacated its perch and flew off into the gathering gloom, a fitting end to a magical time.
