The skies above the UK are a battleground between competing air masses, with warm air to the south fighting for supremacy against cold polar air from the north.
While this doesn't bode well for sun lovers, it's a great place to be if you're an outdoor photographer with a special interest in weather, such as myself.
This photo shows the sky on a particularly active weather day on the North Wales coast.
I'm standing on the West Shore at Llandudno looking out over the Conwy estuary to the cliffs of Penmaenmawr beyond, while overhead high altitude cirrus clouds pass from west to east and low altitude cumulus clouds pass from north to south - weird eh!.
Every now and then a shower passes by and douses me, followed by the sun lighting up the clouds in a most dramatic fashion.
Of all the photos I took that afternoon, this one has the best mix of cloud, sun and light on the sea.
Arizona may have 350 days of full on sun a year, but you can't beat a dollop of good old welsh weather for a bit of photographic drama.
