We were enjoying some family time on our holiday on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, watching and photographing my grandson as her learnt (very succesfully) to wakeboard on our local lake.
As the session progressed we started to hear rumbles of thunder in the distance, slowly coming closer as storm clouds built up over the nearby hills.
The wakeboarding session was brought to a speedy close, as it's not a good idea to be immersed in water while hanging off a steel cable during an electrical storm.
However, the photography didn't stop. I merely pointed my camera upwards at the dramatic clouds - now nearly overhead - and searched out patterns of dark and light in the swirling vapour.
The shapes and tones in this particular composition were most attractive, and a subsequent conversion to monochrome in Adobe Lightroom helped to bring out the meance and beauty being played out over our heads.
