This magnificent storm cloud formed over the Little Orme, Llandudno, North Wales while my wife Liz and I were taking a stroll on the old Victorian pier at the far end of the bay.
I love watching and photographing dramatic weather, but a super cloud like this one needs something else in the frame, against which you can judge its size and power.
In this case the row of Llandudno seafront hotels, and the Little Orme headland provide a much needed counterpoint to the massive cloud, serving to emphasise the power of this natural phenomenon.
Details and contrast were all enhanced in Photoshop to bring out the drama of the scene, and the image was converted to monochrome primarily to remove the blue sky and add to the feeling of power and menace that was the impression I was getting at the time, even standing about a mile away from the action.
