One of the most stunning vistas on the North Wales coast is the view towards the mouth of the river Conwy, as it enters the Irish Sea, flowing past the castle and harbour of Conway town on the left, and Deganwy on the right.
Standing on the bridge over the river next to the medieval castle, the scene is especially beautiful around sunset in summer, as the intense colours of the glowing sky to the northwest reflect in the waters and mud flats below, while the lit castle wall and lights of the harbour add a counterpoint against the darkening mass of the mountains beyond.
Trying to fit all this luminous loveliness into a single 3x2 aspect ratio image was pointless exercise, so thank goodness for Adobe Lightroom's 'Merge to Panorama' function, which allowed me to capture the whole expanse of the estuary in a series of overlapping frames, to be blended seamlessly together to make this final collage which much more accurately expresses the feeling of light and space that I experienced that wonderful evening.
