During our two week holiday spent exploring the beautiful landscapes and coastlines of Devon and Cornwall my wife Liz and I made a point of spending a day exploring Bodmin Moor.
We started off hiking the bleak granite moorland which was as imposing, barren and rugged as you would expect.
But towards the end of the afternoon, having studied our guide book, we drove to the Golitha Falls National Nature Reserve, described as one of the loveliest places on the moor.
The wooded valley of the river Fowey was certainly very different to the tors and moorland we had explored earlier that day, and although there weren't any actual waterfalls along the riverside path we took we did come across some lovely little cascades as the river meandered along its gorge.
We spent quite a while wandering the pathways in this unexpected part of Bodmin Moor, feeling at times we were in Middle Earth, in the company of elves and hobbits.
Of course, I took quite a few photographs along the way, featuring the delightful flow of water bubbling over moss covered rocks in the stream by the path while using a slow shutter speed to blur the movement of the water slightly in order to bring out the ethereal ambiance of this magical place.
Along with the still images I also shot some live action video of Golitha Falls which you can watch by following the link.
