During our two week holiday spent exploring the beautiful landscapes and coastlines of Devon and Cornwall my wife Liz and I spent a couple of days visiting the quaint fishing ports along the English Channel coast of South Cornwall.
One place we particularly wanted to see was Charlestown, with its Grade 2 listed Georgian harbour, recently made famous as a location used in filming the latest Poldark television series.
Although the harbour and town were quite pretty, I found the experience a bit disappointing, with tourists everywhere and the whole Poldark vibe having been taken completely over the top.
No doubt Charlestown would look much more as it should during winter, once the tourists and Poldark fans had left, but as it was, all I could find to photograph that interested me was this old corroded cable drum and steel braided cable.
Visually interesting in its own right, but not really what we'd hoped to find here.
