During our two week stay spent exploring the beautiful landscapes and coastlines of Devon and Cornwall my wife Liz and I drove past Widemouth Bay on the Atlantic facing coast of North Cornwall on a number of occasions, heading for less well developed bays and inlets further south.
So it was only towards the end of our stay that we actually stopped here for a cliff walk and stroll along the extensive surfing beach.
Stopping in a convenient car park high up on the cliffs just to the north of Widemouth Bay we walked down the gently sloping clifftop path and onto the extensive sandy beach, revealed in all its glory at low tide.
One aspect of this coastline that really struck Liz and I was the amazing and varied rock formations on display, both in the sandstone and shale cliffs and in the striated rocks partially buried in the sand and revealed by the ebbing tide.
Which it the main subject of this image, taken just after sunset with the linear rock formations on the beach pointing towards the distant western horizon with its orange twilight glow.

Filters - 2 stop neutral density graduated filter used to reduce the brightness of the sky.
