During our two week stay on the Mediterranean island of Crete, my wife Liz and I took a coach trip into the hills near where we were staying at Hersonissos, to visit a farmhouse that had been converted into a restaurant and wedding venue.
To enhance the 'olde worlde' ambiance, the owners had kept the old buildings looking as they were, and had tastefully placed various artifacts from days gone by around the property, such as this old rusty bicycle leaning on a stone wall and looking great in the late afternoon light.
Needless to say, the local food tasted great, and I enjoyed photographing the historical details just as much as sampling the fare.
