Most of the two weeks that Liz and I spent on the Mediterranean island of Crete in September 2017 was spent driving around the eastern half of Crete, taking in the beautiful scenery and basking in the hot weather.
One of our travels took us around the lovely Mirabello Bay, where we spotted the rather dramatically located greek orthodox church of Agia Fotini, sitting right next to the sea and backed by the cliffs that lie between the towns of Agia Nikolaos and Sitia.
Of course, we couldn't drive by without stopping for a good look around and a few photographs, along with a couple of car loads of other tourists who had the same idea.
We were all very polite, keeping out of each others' images and so I was able to capture this lovely scene, completely unexpected and all the more appreciated for being so.
