As my wife Liz and I found during our two week stay, the island of Crete in the eastern Mediterranean has a stunning variety of landscapes to enjoy and photograph.
The north coast is the most heavily developed, with tourist resorts lining the beaches, but move inland a few miles and the scene completely changes, with rugged mountains and olive trees wherever you look.
One of the best viewpoints we found during our exploring was from the terrace of the rather unusual Homo Sapiens Museum near the small town of Kera on the edge of the Lasithi Plateau.
This panoramic collage takes in the sweeping views looking towards the north coast, including the recently constructed Apostelemi reservoir, and gives a good idea of the fantastic scenery on offer on the beautiful island of Crete.
